Sacrament - Confession

CONFESSION / RECONCILIATION / PENANCE

It goes by several names, each which describes a different aspect of the same Sacrament of Penance.  Confessing our sins, with absolution Reconciling our relationship with God his Church and doing Penance for our sins so we are aware not to repeat our offense.  Whatever you may call it the Sacrament is available to you so that you can continually stay close to God and hear his voice.  Sins separate us further and further from our relationship with God, especially mortal sin.  The Church has this Sacrament of Penance so that after Baptism we can always seek forgiveness and prepare our hearts to serve God and receive Him in the Eucharist.  Below are our current times offered.

EVERY WEDNESDAY

After the 12:15 pm Mass - 2:00 pm

EVERY SATURDAY

3:00 pm-3:45 pm

Confession is available in the Confession/Reconciliation Room every Wednesday afternoon after the 12:15 pm Mass until 2:00 pm or from 3:00 pm until 3:45 pm every Saturday afternoon.  Please enter the Church and head to the left back corner where our Reconciliation Room is located.  Line will form along the back wall.

“Whoever confesses his sins . . . is already working with God . . . When you begin to abhor what you have made, it is then that your good works are beginning, since you are accusing yourself of your evil works. The beginning of good works is the confession of evil works. You do the truth and come to the light.”

St. Augustine – referenced in CCC Paragraph 1458

FIRST RECONCILIATION

Students preparing for the sacrament of First Eucharist need to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation for the first time. Each First Eucharist Communicant receives their Sacrament of Reconciliation during the formal instruction year for First Eucharist after having attended one full year of formal religious instruction. This usually occurs in Second Grade but the Sacraments can be administered to older children as well as adults. We are offering online registrations for the current Faith Formation Program, for questions contact our Faith Formation Office at (518) 273-7602 ext 102
