Youth Ministry (Grades 7-12)
“The very first words, then, that I would like to say to every young Christian are these: Christ is alive and he wants you to be alive!”
– Pope Francis
Did you know that there are 8 components of Youth Ministry? Yes, 8! Youth Ministry includes more than just coming to your faith formation sessions, it also includes advocacy, community life, evangelization, justice and service, leadership development, pastoral care, and prayer and worship. These opportunities not only show the youth how to live out a Catholic Christian life through the acts of mercy, but they also create friendships and connect them to their parish and outside community. To ensure our youth are getting a comprehensive approach to youth ministry, we have established some new requirements.
New YM Requirements:
- Grades 7-9 - Must complete 3 opportunities
- Confirmation Candidates - Must complete 5 opportunities
What are these "opportunities"?
- Youth Minister Matt has planned several prayer, service, or social events and opportunities through the Youth Ministry Office that will be shared with all. In addition, our parish ministries are extremely active and there will be more opportunities added to our calendar as the year continues to unfold that will also count towards the YM requirements.

- When youth complete a YM opportunity they will be fill out a reflection sheet and return it to the Faith Formation/Youth Ministry Office which will be preparing them for their future Sacrament of Confirmation.

As you have hopefully heard many times before, Confirmation is NOT graduation! Although our formal faith formation sessions stop after youth receive Confirmation, our accompaniment of these young men and women continues. The PCG is set up for high school youth who have made their Confirmation and are seeking more prayer, service, and social opportunities through our parish. The schedule for 2024-25 is outlined below:
Date & Time | Event |
Monday, September 30th at 6pm | Lectio Divina and Lawn Games |
Thursday, November 14th at 6pm | Friendsgiving |
Saturday, January 25th at 2pm | Bowling (Location TBD) |
Sunday, March 23rd at 11am | Siena College Mass |
Monday, May 5th at 6pm | Vocations Panel |
Sunday, June 1st at 9am | Graduating HS Senior Mass |
“I ask you, then, to rediscover the corporal works of mercy: to feed the hungry, give drink to the thirsty, clothe the naked, welcome the stranger, assist the sick, visit the imprisoned and bury the dead. Nor should we overlook the spiritual works of mercy: to counsel the doubtful, teach the ignorant, admonish sinners, comfort the sorrowful, forgive offenses, patiently bear with troublesome people and pray to God for the living and the dead. As you can see, mercy does not just imply being a “good person” nor is it mere sentimentality. It is the measure of our authenticity as disciples of Jesus, and of our credibility as Christians in today’s world."POPE FRANCIS’
