Knights of Columbus
Our Lady of Victory Council 14164
Fraternal organization dedicated to personal spiritual growth of members and service to the community.
The Our Lady of Victory Council was organized to support the parish and local community. We received our charter in 2007. In addition to supporting the various ministries within the OLV church, we have directly supported the American Cancer Society, Haiti Relief, Roarke Center, Little Sisters of the Poor, Joseph House, the Troy Boys and girls Club, and other groups.
In 1882, the Knights of Columbus was founded by Blessed Fr. Michael J. Mcgiviney to render mutual aid and assistance to sick, disabled and needy members and their families. The Order has helped families obtain economic security and stability through its life insurance, annuity and long-term care programs, and has contributed time and energy worldwide to service in communities.
All the good works we do are informed by our four core principles:
Charity - Our Catholic faith teaches us to “Love thy neighbor as thyself.” Members of the Knights of Columbus show love for their neighbors through volunteerism and providing direct spiritual and material support to those in need.
Unity – None of us is as good as all of us.
Fraternity – In the Knights of Columbus, we watch out for and take care of one another. Last year individual Knights gave more than 10 million hours of their time to assist sick and/or disabled members and their families.
Patriotism – Members of the Knights of Columbus are patriotic citizens. We are proud of our devotion to God and country, and believe in standing up for both.
The Knights of Columbus has grown from several members in one council to more than 13,000 councils and 1.7 million members throughout the United States, Canada, the Philippines, Mexico, Poland, Ukraine, France, the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, Panama, the Bahamas, the Virgin Islands, Cuba, Guatemala, Guam and Saipan.
