Hello Families!
Just a reminder that 2022-23 Gr 1-10 Faith Formation Registration is available online www.olvols.org/formation. Copies are attached again and also available in the Church Gathering Area, the Parish Office or at your request. Registration is due on or before Sept 1! *We will have to charge a $10 late fee for registrations submitted after Sept. 1 to cover shipping costs!
Some Important Updates and Reminders:
Preparation for all Sacraments (First Reconciliation/Eucharist and Confirmation) at OLV is a 2-year program: The Sacraments are received after the second year of formal* religious education, usually in the spring during the second and tenth grade years. All children need to have some type of formal religious education in 1st grade and 9th grade prior to enrolling into second-grade (Sacramental Prep). *Formal religious education might include 1st grade curriculums received at another parish, in private school, or district approved home-schooling.
Grade 7-9 sessions will now be held on Sunday mornings 9:45 am – 10:45 am. There are no Sunday evening sessions. We hope having Gr.1-9 sessions at the same time on Sunday will make it easier on our families!
Reminder About Important Upcoming Dates
Catechetical Sunday is on September 18 "This is my body given for you" Luke 22:19
Catechetical Sunday is a wonderful opportunity to reflect on the role that each person plays, by virtue of Baptism, in handing on the faith and being a witness to the Gospel. This year, the Church will celebrate Catechetical Sunday on September 18, 2022. The theme is: “This is my body given for you” Those who the parish community has designated to serve as catechists will be called forth to be commissioned for their ministry. - Usccb.org
Please join us as we begin our Faith Formation year with a special blessing on our Catechists: Mariah Macary, Lisa Balistreri, Julianne and Rob Messia, Michelle Dennis, Chris Rotondi, Alex Rotondi, Linda Kane, Peter Ogno, Fr. Nathaniel, Mary Alice McVeigh, Kate Golden, Kelly Morrissey and Kelly Onorato.
Children’s Liturgy of the Word (CLOW) for children ages 3-7 begins on September 18 at the 11:15 am Mass
Grade 1-9 Classes begin on Sunday, Sept 25 @ 9:45 – 10:45 am
Grade 1-9 Parent Meeting Sunday, Sept 25 @ 9:45 – 10:45 am
Grade 10 Confirmation Preparation begins on Wednesday, Oct. 5 @ 6:30 – 7:30 pm
If you feel called to serve, please join us!
We are always looking for people to work with our children and teens as a catechist, substitute catechist, catechist aide or gatekeeper. Our Faith Formation sessions are on Sunday mornings from mid-September through April. If you enjoy working with Pre-K (Children's Liturgy of the Word offered during the 11:15 am mass) children (1st-6th) or teens (7th-10th), please join us!
