PARISH FINANCE COUNCIL


The role of the Finance Council is to advise the pastor in financial matters pertaining to the parish.

 

Canon Law requires a pastor to have a Finance Council. This committee has a consultative vote, and assists the pastor in the administration of parish assets.

The Finance Council, together with the Pastor, is responsible for the effective stewardship of the parish.

Duties include:

    Advise the Pastor in all financial matters.

    Prepare financial information needed in accordance with parish planning.

    Ensure that expenditures reflect the mission, goals and objectives of the parish.

    Prepare the annual budget in consultation with the Pastor in accordance with parish objectives.

    Review income and expenditures to determine that the parish is operating within the approved budget.

    Provide the parishioners with an annual report of the financial state of the parish.

    Study parish financials, and make recommendations to the Pastoral Council for maintaining and increasing income to meet       parish priorities and objectives.
